How captchas work to increase signups?

Do you think that captchas work to increase signup? Someone told me that we should use fun loving and pleasant captcha to our website so that users can take interest into registration to our website. Please let me know if you can help me with this.

Never. I dont agree with it. From my view, captcha does not increase the number of sign ups in anyway.
But, it may lead to increase of traffic to the sign up or register page, because of the captcha like that - keycaptcha.com
Even myself, when i first visited a website and saw such kind of captcha very first time and has just tweeted about it to all of my friends about it. But, i'm not sure that no body has registered but instead they have just saw different types of captcha.
That's my point.

The reason why CAPCHAs are there for registration is because it blocks Automated Accounts. But hard CAPCHAs often turn away more sign ups.

A Captcha can trigger out that the entity who are filling the form is human being or some other else. It is necessary to check our otherwise some threat are always ready to jam your database and that's why traffic on your website are replace some other popular site..

Captchas are used for preventing automated registrations.I dont think they will increase sign ups.

Captchas are important to know that the person signing up is a real person and not a bot.
