How many Backlinks should I build a day to keep safe?

Surprisingly, with all the information available on the web, this questions seems to be fairly common. There is no set limit on the web that search engines put out publicly. While many forms of backlinking have set limits, such as blog comment systems and forums posting limits, there is no number that defines how many backlinks can be built, because not every backlink is indexed. In my experience, a steady amount of backlink building based on your traffic provides the most organic look.

Creating 1,000 backlinks in a day does not mean you have a 1,000 backlinks, they take time to be indexed. Not only does it take time to index backlinks, but Google is very picky about which links are even accepted. The link needs to come from a reputable and quality source, it should have a decent rank on all aspects (PageRank, Alexa Rank, Moz Rank, etc.), should be dofollow, and MUST be content related. If the source does not have the dofollow attribute enabled you won’t be able to suck up any link juice. However, nofollow links do help SERP ranks, just not as much as a dofollow source.

Tip: Google is not the only search engine, there are many others that hold their own weight so submitting a site-map to all of them is useful.

Step 2. 30-90 days: 20-30 links per day, by now your site should have a steady stream of organic traffic so increasing the daily amount won’t hurt.

Step 3. 250 Monthly: Depending on the kind of site your working on you might have to make backlinks manually or they might be spread through social media promotion. If you use social media promotion heavily, odds are you will establish backlinks through sharing. If you target blog comments, forum posts, directories, etc., then you will need to build them manually a bit longer.
